A guide to the egg.

Many people when they get into college and begin moving out don't know many essential skills needed to live alone, One of them being cooking. Since college students often don't have much money to spend here is a budget-friendly recipe.

For this meal, we will be making eggs sunny side up. I personally like to use olive oil but you are free to use any substitute. I will usually put just enough oil to cover the majority of the bottom of a pan. To begin warming the oil turn the heat of your stove to medium-high. After about a minute of letting the oil heat up turn down your stove to less than medium heat, and you will be getting ready to place the eggs in. On the side of the stove lightly tap your eggs 2-3 times until there is a crack through the egg. You will then dig your thumbs into the eggshell to separate the two halves. Make sure you do this close to the pan to not splash the hot oil. When the egg comes out of the shell be careful to not let any of the shell fall into the pan. Next, you will use a spatula to lightly move the egg so it doesn't stick to the pan. Finally, I prefer to wait until a crust forms on the edges of the egg white. Using the spatula, lift the egg off the pan and place it on your plate. Congratulations, you have now made a sunny-side-up egg.

The simplicity of this dish is what makes it so good. being able to cook this on the fly at any time of day adds to its charm. Eggs not only taste good but they also are very cheap to make. They are 7-8 dollars for a dozen eggs and they can be paired up with a large variety of things. If the eggs are too bland you can experiment with adding salt or any other type of seasoning, spice, condiment, and much more. If you are a visual learner I have a video linked here with the same method and an alternate one using butter. Thank you so much for reading, and happy eating!!
